Letter From GM:

Today marks 1 month since River City Sportplex opened its doors to the public on October 8th, 2021. The positive and encouraging feedback we have received has been overwhelming and we are so thankful for the response we have received from the public. While there is still a lot to be done and many improvements to be made, we can’t thank you all enough for an incredible first month. This is only the beginning and we can’t wait to share our future with you.

We’d like to give a huge thank you to our Hockey Director Jackson Wilson and our Skating Director Sydney Ash for kick starting our Learn to Play and Learn to Skate programs. These two have done an incredible job and the response from the community to these programs has been amazing.

Looking into the future we have an exciting last couple months of 2021 coming up. We are expecting to get our curling stones and equipment in by the end of the month and plan on using the month of December for “curling 101” with intentions of starting curling leagues at the start of the new year! In addition, here are other events to look forward to as we finish 2021!

  • Winter Skate Camps

  • Christmas Eve skate with Santa

  • New Year's 3v3 Hockey Tournament

  • Girls Try Hockey For Free

  • Lil Hawks Learn to Play Hockey

  • Women’s Hockey 101

  • Curling 101

  • Broomball

  • And more!

All of us here at River City Sportplex are honored to be able to bring back ice skating and ice hockey to Grand Junction and we can’t thank you all enough for the support and kind words we have received. We will be continuing to make improvements to our website and overall operation as we move forward. Stay tuned for more information about our expansion plans for the facility and what we have in store for the future! We look forward to seeing you at the rink!

Phil
